Grand Knight's Message:
My Brother Knights;
Its February already and in our council that means its time for our St. Valentine’s Social. It will be held on the 14th of February starting at 7:30 PM. We will start with a short business meeting followed by the members joining the Ladies for the social. As usual we ask the ladies to bring their usual goodies.
Also this month we celebrate the birthdays of two of our greatest Presidents. The first is George Washington and on the 16th is Abraham Lincoln.. It is also the start of lent, Ash Wednesday is the 6th of February. As Catholic Gentlemen we should make a special attempt to attend the Stations of The Cross during Lent, pray the rosary and attend daily mass.

The Council Free Throw Contest was held on January 11, 2008 at St. Phil’s. The winners will proceed to the District Free Throw Contest on February the 2nd also held at St. Phil’s Beginning at 10 AM. Our winners are as follows.

CARDINAL DOUGHERTY ASSEMBLY DINNER DANCE
The Cardinal Dougherty Assembly’s Annual Dinner Dance will be held on February 23rd, at the Heritage Ballrooms on Mac Dade Blvd. in Holmes, Pa. The tickets are $45.00 each. WOODLAND STRING BAND SHRIMP NIGHT
The Woodland String band is having their annual Shrimp Night on February the 9th the bands hall at 3rd and Snyder in Phila. The tickets are $30.00 a piece . For more details call Jim France at 610-623-5878.

WE WILL CONTACT MEMBERS OF OUR COUNCIL WHO HAVE NOT YET TAKEN THEIR FOURTH DEGREE AND ASKING THEM TO CONSIDER MAKING THE FOURTH DEGREE IN MAY OF 2008. PLEASE THINK IT OVER AND GIVE US A POSITIVE ANSWER.
CARDINAL DOUGHERTY ASSEMBLY
The Assembly meets on the second Tuesday of each month. Those 4th Degree members of our council who are interested should attend and support our own Council Brothers who are Officers in the Assembly. The meeting start at 8PM.

DUES NOTICE
The second notices for payment of DUES were sent out last month, I expect that they will be sent back to me as soon as they can. Every year we go through the same routine, I hope that I will not have to suspend any of our members. You cannot get into a meeting without a current paid up travel card. Please call me if you have any problems paying your dues and we will make arrangements to help you. My number is 610-623-1264 at home and my cell is 610-812-2213.

Any member who has any information that he wishes to put in the Newsletter Please call me around the 15th of the month and I will get it in the next months Newsletter.
This month we went back to sending out the news letter by e-mail. Some members will receive the news letter that way and the rest of the membership will receive it through the mail. If you have an e-mail address and I don’t have it, PLEASE get it to me. We will save on postage.
